How does it work?
It is easy!! For the complete instruction manual, go here.Place the generator in a convenient location within the ripening/greening/storage room.
- With power off and generator disconnected from outlet, open reservoir lid, pour up to 2 liters of Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate and close lid Plug the generator into a grounded outlet of the correct voltage.
- Select a conversion setting from Ethy-Gen® II to Ethylene, using the rotary switch located on the front panel Start the generator when ready to use.
- Ethylene production starts in a few minutes.
- Follow proven ripening / degreening / storage procedures, with the generator running and the Ethy-Gen® II in the bin.
- Shut down the generator when the ethylene application is complete.

Advantages

Room/chamber size
Our generators can be used for fruit ripening in rooms that have a minimum cubic dimension of 45 cubic meters / 1,600 cubic feet.
As a maximum, the general rule of thumb is 10,000 cubic feet (285 cubic meters). The actual dimensions depend on several factors, such as the desired ethylene level and the “tightness” of the room (how tight the room is to prevent air loss). In the case of larger rooms, additional generators can be used, if necessary, to achieve the proper ethylene level.
It may be possible to use a single generator for a room larger than 10,000 ft3 / 285 m3; again, it depends on how narrow the room is. We have some customers who can run a single generator in 20,000 ft3 / 570 m3 rooms and still achieve 150 ppm ethylene.
Remember that ethylene is explosive at 27,000 ppm; always use our generators in ripening rooms
